Fowler Kennedy Physiotherapy Fellowship: Advancing Excellence in Sports and Orthopaedic Care
The Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic offers a premier Physiotherapy Fellowship designed to equip physiotherapists with comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in sport and orthopaedic physiotherapy. This esteemed program fosters collaboration among physiotherapists, sport medicine physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, and researchers, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Program Objectives
The fellowship focuses on developing leaders in sport and exercise medicine by:
- Enhancing clinical expertise in managing sport and orthopaedic injuries using evidence-based care models.
- Providing experience across the continuum of care, from pre-participation physicals to field and clinical management, and facilitating a full return to sport.
- Promoting interdisciplinary collaboration for holistic athlete care.
- Building confidence in managing sideline injuries through involvement with sports teams, event medical coverage, and planning.
- Advocating for active, healthy lifestyles and contributing to injury prevention strategies.
- Acquiring practical hours in line with the SPC curriculum.
- Preparing fellows to mentor future practitioners and engage in knowledge translation in physiotherapy.
Pre-Requisites
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be licensed to practice physiotherapy in Ontario.
- Possess malpractice insurance and Sport First Responder certification.
- Be a member of the Sport Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.
