How has the Fowler Kennedy Physiotherapy Sport Fellowship community & network supported your growth beyond the program?
I owe a deep amount of gratitude to the fellowship and the resulting network associated with it. If it weren’t for the network of individuals I met, I would not be working my dream job that I am today. These individuals continue to inspire me with their relentless passion to advance sport physiotherapy and provide exceptional care, which I truly think is a direct correlation to time in the Fellowship.
To this day, I still remain friends with many of the fellows I was in the program with, along with the practitioners I met at Fowler Kennedy. These individuals to this day are my go to for any clinical advice and I enjoy any chance I get to catch up with them!
What was a defining moment during your fellowship that helped shape the way you practice as a Physiotherapist?
The collaborative environment clinically was a huge influence on me as a physiotherapist and how I practice. It was eye opening to see how harmoniously PT, ortho and sport med could work together to solve a problem in front of them for the benefit of the patient while aligning with best practice. Additionally within the clinic, the support and encouragement from all the practitioners was second to none.
What would you tell someone who is thinking about applying for the fellowship?
Jump at the chance to participate in it! The knowledge and resources you gain are invaluable. I was nervous having to move across the country to participate but it was easily one of the best decisions I
have made in my career. I wouldn’t be where I am today without my experience as a PT Fellow at Fowler Kennedy and I am definitely better for it both personally and professionally.
