Dr. Hussein Ataie Fashtami obtained his medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran in 1994 and completed his orthopedic surgery residency in 2000. Serving as a consultant surgeon in the orthopedic surgery department in Iran from 2000 to 2019, he gained extensive experience, including working with athletes from the Iranian Soccer and wrestling teams.
Upon immigrating to Canada, Dr. Ataie Fashtami pursued recertification, successfully completing his family medicine residency at Western University in 2021. He further enhanced his expertise by undertaking a Sport and Exercise Medicine fellowship at the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic in 2022, where he successfully passed the CASEM diploma exam that same year.
Currently, Dr. Ataie Fashtami is actively involved with the Western University football and hockey teams in his practice at the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic. He holds the position of Adjunct Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University. Additionally, he dedicates part of his time to a non-operative musculoskeletal clinic at the Roth McFarlane Hand and Upper Limb Centre, while also providing care to athletes at the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic.
