What is your role in supporting the sport physiotherapy fellows throughout their fellowship, and what do you enjoy most about it?
As a direct mentor, I work collaboratively with the PT fellows to support a variety of varsity programs at Western. It is a privilege to contribute to their learning journey as they navigate the dynamic landscape that is sports physiotherapy. It is often a shared learning experience enriched by their fresh ideas and perspectives. I particularly enjoy watching them build meaningful relationships with their athletes and develop their confidence and critical thinking through the many opportunities the fellowship provides.
How would you describe the learning environment and culture within the fellowship?
The learning environment at Fowler Kennedy is incredibly collaborative – we encourage knowledge sharing through a variety of different formats: case rounds, designated learning sessions, open concept staff room, etc. Questions are always encouraged and your mentor(s) are always a call or text away. Communication is key!
What advice would you give someone who is thinking about applying for the fellowship?
“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take. – Wayne Gretzky” – Michael Scott …but in all seriousness, please do! This opportunity will change your career trajectory and provide you with an unparalleled support system.
