October is Healthy Workplace Month, and this fall, Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic embraced the opportunity to celebrate wellness, connection, and the importance of creating a healthy workplace.

As a clinic dedicated to helping individuals stay active and healthy, we recognize that well-being extends beyond the care we provide to our patients. It also means supporting the health and wellness of our own team.

Throughout October, our staff came together for a series of activities focused on nutritious eating, physical activity, mental well-being, and connecting with colleagues. From fresh, locally grown apples and a nutritious potluck to a visit from therapy dogs and a refreshing fall walk, the month was filled with simple reminders that small moments of wellness can make a big difference.

A Fresh Start to Fall

We kicked off Healthy Workplace Month with a little taste of fall!

Thanks to a generous donation from Vermeer Apple Orchards, our staff lunchrooms were stocked with fresh, locally grown apples for everyone to enjoy throughout the workday.

Apples are not only a delicious seasonal snack but also a great source of fibre and nutrients that support overall health. Having fresh fruit readily available was a simple way to encourage healthy snacking during busy workdays.

A special thank you to Vermeer Apple Orchards for their generosity and for helping us bring a little extra fall freshness into the clinic!

A Little Puppy Love Goes a Long Way

Sometimes, a little extra joy in the workday comes on four paws!

As part of our Healthy Workplace Month celebrations, we welcomed a special visit from therapy dogs, giving staff an opportunity to take a break from their busy schedules and enjoy some time with a few furry friends.

Whether it was a quick cuddle, a friendly greeting, or simply spending a few moments with the dogs, the visit brought plenty of smiles and positive energy to the clinic.

Interacting with therapy dogs can offer several benefits for mental well-being, including helping to reduce stress, encourage relaxation, and boost mood. In a busy healthcare environment, opportunities to pause, recharge, and enjoy a lighthearted moment can make a meaningful difference.

The visit was a wonderful reminder that workplace wellness isn’t just about staying physically active or eating well. It’s also about finding moments of happiness, managing stress, and supporting one another throughout the workday.

A special thank you to our therapy dog visitors and their handlers for bringing a little extra comfort and joy to the Fowler Kennedy team!

Good Food, Great Company

On October 21, our team came together for a Healthy Workplace Month potluck, bringing along their favourite nutritious dishes to share with colleagues.

The lunchroom was filled with delicious healthy food choices, great conversations, and an opportunity to step away from our busy schedules to enjoy time together.

Healthy eating doesn’t have to be complicated. Sometimes, it’s as simple as sharing a meal, trying something new, or finding inspiration from the people around us.

More than anything, the potluck was a wonderful reminder that even within our everyday workplace, taking time to connect over good food can help foster a positive and supportive team environment!

A Breath of Fresh Air: Our Fall Reset Walk

To wrap up our Healthy Workplace Month celebrations, our team stepped outside on October 24 for a refreshing fall reset walk through London’s beautiful Harris Park and Gibbons Park.

Surrounded by colourful autumn leaves and crisp fall air, staff enjoyed an opportunity to get moving, recharge, and connect with colleagues outside the clinic.

Walking is one of the simplest ways to support both physical and mental well-being. Regular movement can help improve cardiovascular health, reduce stress, and boost mood, while spending time outdoors offers a welcome break from the demands of a busy workday.

Our fall reset walk was a reminder that prioritizing wellness doesn’t always require a big commitment. Sometimes, a change of scenery, a little fresh air, and good company are just what we need.

Building a Healthier Workplace, Together

At Fowler Kennedy, we believe that a healthy workplace is built through the everyday actions that support the well-being of our team.

Healthy Workplace Month gave us the opportunity to celebrate the importance of nourishing our bodies, staying active, supporting our mental well-being, taking time to recharge, and strengthening the connections we share with our colleagues.

Whether it was enjoying a fresh apple, sharing a healthy snack, spending time with a therapy dog, or heading outdoors for a fall walk, each activity offered a different way to prioritize wellness throughout the workday.

While October serves as an important reminder to prioritize workplace wellness, these are habits and values we hope to carry with us throughout the year.

Here’s to a healthier, happier workplace and a wonderful fall season from all of us at Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic!Keep an eye out for what November will bring to
