How has the Fowler Kennedy Physiotherapy Sport Fellowship community & network supported your growth beyond the program?
I spent 12 years working at Fowler Kennedy after my fellowship, continuing to receive mentorship as well as providing mentorship to new fellows as one of the fellowship coordinators.
My experience with high performance sports teams has allowed me to continue to work with various professional athletes and national sports organizations as my practice has shifted its focus into sport & pelvic health physiotherapy for the female athlete.
What was a defining moment during your fellowship that helped shape the way you practice as a Physiotherapist?
One of my mentors brought me to a Hockey Canada U18 camp to help out. That was the start of a 6 year stint with Hockey Canada that allowed me to work at numerous international tournaments and to be a part of the 2014 Women’s Hockey team who won an Olympic gold medal. I’ve met some incredible people along the way!
What would you tell someone who is thinking about applying for the fellowship?
If you have a passion for sport physio, this is an excellent program to be in. You will receive countless hours of sideline coverage with the support of experienced physios right beside you. You also get to be a part of a multi disciplinary team, learning how each profession can contribute to the athlete’s and team’s success.
