Primary Sport Medicine Fellowship / PGY3 Enhanced Skills Sport Medicine

The Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic / Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry, Department of Family Medicine, University of Western Ontario

Positions open to PGY3 Enhanced skills eligible Family Practice Residents and Ontario licensed practicing Physicians interested in a Fellowship in Sport Medicine.

Duration: 1 year (July 1 to June 30)

The purpose of the PGY3 Enhanced Skills year / Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Fellowship is to provide a high quality educational and research experience for graduates of primary care/family practice residencies who want to focus their practice on sports medicine. The program is designed to train physicians to be knowledgeable in the multiple facets of sports medicine and has been structured to provide a broad variety of experiences. The curriculum is a flexible program, which has been designed to meet the needs of the individual PGY3 residents / fellows while serving their various responsibilities.

In addition to a busy clinical setting, our group works closely with the orthopaedic sport surgeons, physiotherapists and other associated clinical and research groups to provide a balanced approach to the care of the injured athlete. We are responsible for the care of all of our university athletes and coverage of our athletic teams.

PGY3 Resident / Fellow attend and contribute to weekly research, resident teaching and rounds. Residents/ Fellows are encouraged to take a leadership role in the training and teaching of residents and students throughout the year.

The PGY3 Resident / Fellows are encouraged to design and participate in one or two clinical or basic projects each year.
